The Coach House Community Cafe

The 'Coach House Community Café' project is a new addition to the service. The aim is to give positive opportunities and experience to interested members in a catering environment, and to enable people to develop skills and achievements through accredited training programmes. This could lead to future employment for any volunteers who may be interested in taking this pathway. The café space is set within an old Victorian coach house, so in keeping with the Victoriana theme we offer table service; serving our unique speciality cream teas amongst other things. The volunteers have had a number of training events to date, the most exciting being the afternoon that was spent being taught by Neil Worcester, catering and operations manager at Manchester City Stadium, in the etiquette of serving cream teas. Neil said 'Cream tea is quintessentially an English tradition and, as such should be served correctly'.

The volunteers have also created a buffet for another mental health organisation, Stockport MIND, which was a great success. Buffets are an avenue that will be developed in the very near future. The community café will provide a space where people can meet, enjoy the ambience and be table served with freshly baked cream scones, and a selection of toasties for now. We are looking to develop our menu to meet the needs of both service users and the public. Please come down to meet us, you would be most welcome. We are now open to the public

Opening days: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 11 am until 2pm. On Wednesday we offer a women only day - please phone for further details of this.
